How it works

Calm, practical tutoring and coaching for students with Special Educational Needs. We focus on access to learning, study skills and confidence. Tutors choose methods that fit the student; we interview every tutor and only work with people who are passionate about SEN, safeguarding-trained, Enhanced DBS-checked and insured. Sessions run online or in person across England and Wales.

How we help

Every student has a unique mix of strengths and challenges, so we never use a standard approach.  We hire experienced tutors and give them room to teach in their style. All tutors are carefully interviewed before joining Sunbeam and share our commitment to compassionate, engaging teaching. Each has expertise in supporting students with SEN, and has up-to-date safeguarding training, insurance, and an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Our method

Focused 60-minute sessions with varied tasks, short breaks, and plenty of encouragement. Tutors are experts in their field and teach in their own style. We link strategies back to classwork so progress and confidence translates to school.

GCSE and A Level tutoring for students with Special Educational Needs. We help students build confidence and prepare for exams with clear, realistic goals. Support is shaped around the student’s needs, with regular check-ins with parents where useful.

Yes. All tutors are verified, vetted and hold Enhanced DBS checks. Each tutor has strong SEN training and follows calm, evidence-based approaches.

Yes. We support students seeking GCSE and A-level subject support via subject-specific tutoring, as well as providing study skills tutoring and coaching that is applicable across all subjects. We support students with revision plans, past-paper practice, time management and exam technique, and help students make best use of access arrangements. With consent, we can align targets with school and EHCP outcomes.
